Dilepton Emission from Dense Hadron Gas
نویسندگان
چکیده
Using a Hagedorn resonance gas picture and quark-hadron duality we estimate the dilepton emission rate in the vicinity of the QCD deconfinement phase transition. The result is then used to calculate a dilepton spectrum in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions. We show that multibody contributions taken into account in the Hagedorn resonance gas approach provide an enhancement of the production rate of massive dileptons as compared to the previously considered sources.

Dilepton Emission from a Resonance Gas
We consider the dilepton emission from a dense and hot hadron gas near a critical point. The hadron gas is described as a resonance one. The dilepton spectrum generated by vector resonances is shown to be equivalent to the one generated by quarks.

Medium Effects in low-mass dilepton production in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions are investigated using hadronic models. The rescattering of pions and rho mesons within a hot and dense hadron gas leads to substantial modifications in the ππ → ee annihilation process, which are shown to be important for understanding the recently observed dilepton enhancement at the CERN-SpS. Possible i...
متن کاملDILEPTONS FROM TRANSPORT AND HYDRODYNAMICAL MODELS P. HUOVINEN and V. KOCH
Transport and hydrodynamical models used to describe the expansion stage of a heavy-ion collision at the CERN SPS give different dilepton spectrum even if they are tuned to reproduce the observed hadron spectra. To understand the origin of this difference we compare the dilepton emission from transport and hydrodynamical models using similar initial states in both models. We find that the requi...
متن کاملMeasurements of dilepton continuum at the PHENIX experiment at RHIC
PHENIX has measured the dielectron continuum in √ sNN=200 GeV Au+Au and p+p collisions. In minimum bias Au+Au collisions the dielectron yield in the mass range between 150 and 750 MeV/c2 is enhanced by a factor of 3.4±0.2(stat.)±1.3(syst.)±0.7(model) compared to the expectation from our model of hadron decays that well reproduces the mass spectrum in p+p collisions. The integrated yield increas...
متن کاملElectromagnetic Probes of Dense Matter in Relativistic Heavy-ion Collisions
Dilepton and photon production in heavy-ion collisions at SPS energies is studied in the relativistic transport model that incorporates self-consistently the change of hadron masses in dense matter. It is found that the dilepton spectra in protonnucleus reactions can be well described by the conventional mechanisms of Dalitz decay, primary vector meson decay, decay of charmed mesons, and the in...
